Chief Engineer's Report U-330
Patrol #3

Duration:     20.12.1939 - 07.01.1940, 19 days on sea

The boat performed flawlessly throughout the entire patrol. I watched the periscope assembly closely for signs of leakage from the second patrol’s damage, but saw no problems, even at 155 meters. The bow seems to still be a degree or two out of alignment, as we needed constant 2 degrees of port rudder to maintain heading. I have personally talked to the Chief Mechanic at the pens to have him look at this problem.

The boat returned without damage and will be ready to return to duty after the regular post-patrol checklist and reprovisioning. We had a total of 14 cubic meters of fuel remaining in the tanks and the remaining provisions have been disbursed to the crew, as per the Kommandant’s orders.

Except for the poor operating practices of the Chief Mechanic aboard U-330, I have nothing else to report at this time.

Chief Engineer’s Report Respectfully Signed and Submitted this Date: 7, Jan, 1940
