We leave the harbour for BD39.

The crossed swords are ready to hit again

21 Okt, 12:05, BF4383
Air alarm. Saw aircraft in plenty of time, no damage.

1 Nov, 11:16 BD3938
Ship spotted at 270 degrees (relative). Turns out to be a small cargo merchant, British. The deck gun sinks the "SS Larpool" of 1.000 BRT.

2 Nov. 08:54, BD3931
Ship at 7 degrees. It's headed away from us, so we chase after it at flank speed. The tanker turns broadside to us unexpectedly. I waste no time and order one torpedo to be launched. It breaks the back of the 6.000 BRT "Rose Schiaffino", a British tanker carrying crude oil.

9 Nov. 17:25, BD3934
Ship at 333 degrees. Large tanker. I make a submerged approach on a perpendicular course. At 18:53 two stern torpedoes are launched. Both hit and sink the 12.000 BRT turbine tanker carrying Diesel fuel.

12 Nov, 23:45, BD3928
Ship at 82 degrees. Small merchant of 2.000 BRT. The deck gun sinks the tramp steamer (in ballast) very quickly.

13 Nov, 00:25, BD3955
After leaving the scene of the last attack, I spot another merchant at 3 degrees. One torpedo dispatches the 3.267 BRT cargo merchant, in ballast.

26 Nov, 12:43, BD3957
After 13 days without seeing a thing, a British troop ship is discovered! A chase ensues which lasts utnil 17:53. I have the edge in speed, but only just. Two torpedoes send the ship to the bottom fo 10.500 BRT.

27 Nov, 00:01, BD3951
I am abruptly woken up by the scream of "Captain to the Bridge!" As I rush up to the tower, I see my officers with a cake and candles in their hands. They sing raucously, for it is my birthday! Quite an awakening, I can tell you that much!

1 Dez, 08:44, BD3992
We meet with a ship in the dense fog. 1 stern shot sinks a 7.000 BRT cargo steamer carrying copper.

7 Dez, 16:48, BD3944
We receive word about the attack on Pearl Harbor. We are astounded.

9 Dez, 16:44, BD3927
Ship at 310 degrees. 1 torpedo sinks a 7.000 BRT cargo freighter carrying bauxite.

13 Dez, 23:47, BD3945
Ship at 336 degrees. The night is pitch black, but we saw the shadow. One torpedo sinks a cargo steamer, carrying general cargo, for 7.000 BRT.

14 Dez, 02:15, BD3976
Low on fuel, so we decide to return home to Brest.

Personal analysis:
No convoys this time, I'm afraid. Possibly next. I also didn't like returning home with so many torpedoes still in the boat. I hope next patrol is better. I'm still thinking about when I decoded the message about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Will we be sent to the American coastline now? I wonder how their defenses are. At any rate, let's hope the next patrol reaps even more success.
